WISHH Ball will launch new hospital charity
On November 4th the Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust and the WISHH Charity will hold the first ever WISHH Charity Ball at the Mercure Hotel in Willerby to promote the charity to hospital staff.
1st November 2016
Funded by the Trust’s staff lottery, the ball will mark the official launch of WISHH (Working Independently to Support HEY Hospitals), which is a new independent charity set up to take a leading role in promoting and supporting fundraising for the two hospitals of Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital.
The WISHH charity’s aim is to increase the level of funds given in support of the Trust to enable it to enhance existing hospital services. It will achieve this through a range of activities and the promotion of specific fundraising appeals. WISHH funding will improve the patient experience by providing equipment, accommodation improvements and other facilities, all of which will be in addition to that provided by the NHS.
WISHH will listen to the views of staff, patients and relatives and the public generally regarding areas which require funding and which will “make a difference”.
Susan Lockwood, Chair Person, said:
“We are very grateful to the hospital staff and their Lottery Committee for giving us this fantastic opportunity to introduce the new Charity”.
“Of course there have been some tremendous appeals and individual generosity given to the two hospitals over the years. However, most major hospitals in the country have in addition had the benefit of the efforts of an independent charity working to raise funds generally for the sort of things which may be wished for but are outside what can be expected from main stream NHS funding. Through WISHH the Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital will now have that support”.
