WISHH Autumn Update!
Welcome to our autumn update! Read ahead for our latest news and activities, plus a look ahead to fundraising events in the final quarter of the 2023. To start, we have some very exciting news…
Last week we shared that a kind donor has offered to match fund donations made to our “Space to Grow” appeal, up to the sum of £25,000. This means that donors and supporters will see their funds to the appeal doubled! The good news comes just as the Space to Grow appeal reached its half way point of £50,000! The second weekend in September was a bumper one for WISHH! We had fundraisers from across Hull Hospitals, friends, and supporters join us for the Yorkshire Three Peaks and Great North Run. The two events have raised over £8,500, with donations still coming in! With our match funding bid announcement, the total is more impressive still! The amount raised for the Space to Grow appeal has doubled to £13,337, with £2,013 raised for other specialist areas. Thank you so much to everybody who took part!
In October we’re bringing back HalloWISHH! We’re inviting you to embrace your spooky side for some frightfully fun fundraising! From baking, carving competitions and traditional Halloween parties, there are plenty of ways to get involved. Visit our HalloWISHH Event Page for a full list of ideas and our fundraising pack! It’s time to start thinking ahead to Christmas! This year, we have lots of ways for you to get involved! Firstly, we’ve teamed up with the fantastic Rotary Clubs of Holderness and Humberside to bring you our first Hull Santa Run! This festive event will see you running, dancing, walking or dashing your way around Pickering Park in Santa suits! Visit the WISHH Hull Santa Run page for further information. Our WISHH National Elf Service and Christmas WISHHes are back this year! Visit the links for more information and your Christmas fundraising pack. This year you can choose whether your fundraising efforts will support our Space to Grow appeal, children and medical elderly patients spending Christmas in hospital, or to help us enhance the hospital experience for the benefit of patients, visitors and staff across Hull Royal Infirmary or Castle Hill Hospital.
We’d like to end by saying a huge thank you to everybody who has fundraised, donated or supported us over the last two months. As always, we couldn’t make a difference without your help! Staff from the Hull Hospitals raised over £4,500 for our Space to Grow appeal! Not only did over 60 wards and departments take part in the NHS 75th birthday celebrations with the NHS Big Tea, but thirteen staff members took part in an epic four day 350 kilometre cycle from Southport to Hornsea. The Little Weighton Steam Rally raised a fantastic £6,000 for the Neurosurgery and Ward 31 at the Queen’s Centre. Integra Buildings were joined by partners, supporters and friends for a Charity Golf Day to raise funds for the Space to Grow appeal. Abbie’s Angels raised an incredible £7,535 for the Teenage and Young Adult Unit and Ward 33 at the Queen’s Centre. The family and friends of Abigail Bulman-Hook completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks in her memory, to raise funds for the team who cared for her and went above and beyond during Abbie’s 18-month battle with breast cancer.
