Hospital Staff raise £6,000 for WISHH
A dedicated team of 26 hospital staff and supporters recently raised £6,000 by taking part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge and the Great North Run. The funds will benefit patients across Hull Hospitals.
The team, which included staff from various departments such as Neonatal Intensive Care, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Children’s Accident and Emergency, Intensive Care, Woodlands Ward, Occupational Health and other speciality areas, were joined by family and friends in supporting the WISHH Charity.
Half of the money raised will go towards the newly launched WISHH Baby Loss Appeal, which is raising £100,000 to improve bereavement facilities at Hull Women and Children’s Hospital. This will help refurbish the bereavement suite used by over 100 families over the past 12 months, renovate quiet rooms, and enhance the Early Pregnancy Unit, providing peaceful and calming areas for families during difficult times. To date, the appeal has raised over £5,000.
The other half of the funds will support several areas within the hospital, including the Children’s Accident and Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Hull Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Woodland Ward, and the WISHH Charity’s National Elf Service Christmas Appeal.
Lisa Whitton, WISHH Charity Manager, said, “The funds raised provide the added extras above and beyond what the NHS can achieve alone, making a real difference to the comfort and care for patients. We’re grateful to everyone involved for their support, especially for boosting our new Baby Loss Appeal.”
