WISHH November Update
A warm welcome to our November update! We have some exciting WISHH news to share with you. At WISHH, we are dedicated to making a real difference to patients across Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital. We’d love for you – your family, friends, colleagues, or local business or school – to join us in supporting our vital work. Consider choosing WISHH as your Charity of the year and help us continue to improve the lives of those who need it most.
We’re incredibly proud to share our brand-new WISHH promotional film, funded by The Matthew Good Foundation. The film offers an insight into how WISHH is making a difference across Hull Hospitals, thanks to the funds raised and donated to our charity. Through the film we are hoping to spread the word of the work we do – and there’s so much more we want to do to make our hospitals an even better place for over 600,000 patients who use them every year. We’ve launched our WISHH Baby Loss Appeal, with a goal to raise £100,000 to improve bereavement facilities within Hull Women and Children’s Hospital. This campaign will see the refurbishment of the bereavement suite, used by over 100 families each year, creating a peaceful and tranquil space for families to make memories with their precious baby. Funds will also help renovate six quiet rooms and improve the entrance and exit to the Early Pregnancy Unit, reducing encounters with other expectant parents and new born babies

The WISHH National Elf Service Appeal helps spread the magic of Christmas to children and older patients cared for across Hull Hospitals over the festive period. Funds raised will enable us to provide gifts, as well as toys, games and distraction items across hospital wards that make a difference beyond the holidays. Humberside Fire and Rescue’s 24 new recruits are championing this appeal why not get involved too? Visit https://www.wishhcharity.org.uk/event/national-elf-service-4/ for more information.
We’d like to say a heartfelt thank everyone who has supported WISHH, including the incredible Skirlaugh Young Farmers who chose WISHH as their charity of the Year, helping fund specialist physiotherapy equipment for stroke patients to support rehabilitation and recovery.
Louise and Jackson, inspired by the care husband and father Lee received by the Neuro-Oncology team, raised funds in Lee’s memory to provide iPads and specialist physiotherapy equipment used used by the team in awake brain surgery.
Shaun, who nominated WISHH as a beneficiary of the Lavender Ball, organised by Andy and Hollie in memory of their incredible wife and mum. A wonderful donation of £2,500 was made to the Radiotherapy Unit at the Queen’s Centre.
Family and friends of much loved Yoga and Pilates teacher Alison Storey, took part in a range of activities including spinathons, coffee morning and other classes raising over £8,000 for the Colorectal team at Castle Hill, providing a specialist reclining chair, a fold away bed and fall prevention pads.
A huge congratulations to hospital staff and friends who raised £6,000 as part of #TeamWISHH, taking part in the Great North Run and Yorkshire Three Peaks events. Half of these funds will go towards the WISHH Baby Loss Appeal, with the rest going to vital areas across Hull Hospitals. Thank you all for your dedication and generosity!
