WISHH Yorkshire Three Peaks

WISHH Yorkshire Three Peaks

On Saturday 14th September, eleven hospital staff and friends will be taking part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks fundraiser for WISHH. The 12-hour challenge sees entrants walking 24 miles through the stunning Yorkshire Dales, setting off from Horton-in-Ribblesdale in the early morning chill.

The team will start the hiking up Pen-Y-Ghent, past Ribblehead Viaduct to ascend Whernside and finally tackle the short scramble up Ingleborough before heading back into Horton-in-Ribblesdale as they complete their challenge, where they will receive a medal to mark their achievement.

The team includes Hull Hospital staff from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Children’s Accident and Emergency Department, Intensive Care, Woodland Children’s Ward, and staff across a number of specialist areas. They are joined by friends and supporters of the WISHH Charity.

Funds raised from the event will support a number of areas close to the hearts of our walkers, from the new WISHH appeals we will be launching shortly; to raising funds for NICU’s Neofriends, Children’s Accident and Emergency, Intensive Care Unit, Woodland Children’s Ward, to helping us kick start our Christmas National Elf Service Appeal.

Debbi Devlin said, “The Yorkshire Three Peaks for WISHH sounded a big challenge so I joined up to help raise funds for our Hospital. I’ve taken part in three of the practice walks, the hints and tips and chats have helped enormously. My husband will join me on the day, and we’ll give it our very best shot. As a bonus to the funds we’ve raised, we’ve also rekindled our love of walking in the wonderful British countryside.”

Jane Smith, Junior Sister, Paediatric Assessment Unit said, “WISHH are an amazing charity that do so much for the children I look after and lots of other children too. They are so deserving of our support and by doing this event I can help and give some monies to help for future projects.”

Sarah Sharp, a Neonatal Specialist Nurse and partner Rob Clubley are raising funds for NeoFriends, a group for parents and babies that have spent time on the Neonatal Units. Funding play equipment and a Christmas party for NICU Graduates.

Lisa Whitton, WISHH Charity Manager said, “It’s fantastic to have such a great team come together for the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to support our charity.
