Daniel’s Great North Run to support Hull Hospitals Renal Unit
Local resident Daniel Whyley will be taking part in the Great North Run on the 8th September in memory of his step-dad, Graham Dyson, to raise funds to support the Hull Hospitals Renal Unit.
Daniel said: “Graham was tragically taken from us on 4th September last year following a combination of kidney and bowel problems. During the final months of his life he received outstanding care on Ward 50, the Renal Ward, at Hull Royal Infirmary. For this reason I would like to use my participation in the run to raise money for the ward, via WISHH - the charity Working Independently to Support Hull Hospitals. I am very grateful to WISHH and in particular Lisa Whitton for helping me to make this possible.”
Daniel wrote a moving tribute to Graham and the care he received on Ward 50 which can be read https://www.hey.nhs.uk/news/2018/12/28/daniel-dyson-writes-50-thank-yous-to-hospital-staff-who-cared-for-his-dying-stepfather/
He is taking part in the half-marathon alongside his brother Drew and Drew’s girlfriend Vicki, and it will be the first time he’s participated in any running event longer than 5km.
