WISHH supports New Wheelchairs
6th March 2020
As a result of fundraising and donations made to the WISHH charity’s general fund, we have been able to provide the first batch of seven new wheelchairs and support other projects across our hospitals to make a difference to patients and loved ones we car for.
Many visitors to Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital will understand the importance of finding a wheelchair and the frustration that occurs when you just can’t seem to find one anywhere. WISHH are hoping to make everything a little bit easier by providing the hospital with these new wheelchairs.
Dave May, Portering Services Manager for Hull Hospitals said, “I would like to thank everyone who has donated and to the WISHH charity for their contributions towards the purchase of these wheelchairs.
“Wheelchairs are a valuable resource and these will help improve availability for patient movement at both our hospitals.
“Searching for a wheelchair, even for a few minutes is not only frustrating, but can add delay getting patients to and from an appointment.
These will not only benefit our patients, but also for the public who may need mobility assistance whilst visiting our hospitals.”
This is just the first wave of items provided by the WISHH Charity from their general funds, look out for other new improvements arriving soon including:
- Enhancements to Hull Royal Intensive Care Unit – to enhance the accommodation used by patients’ relatives replacing furniture and accessibly drinks facilities.
- Bed Weighters – A large bed weighter supported to better care for bedbound patients.
- HRI Reading Rooms project – to expand upon the work initially supported by the James Reckitt trust and Hull Library Service.
- Dementia Friendly Completion of WISHH Works on wards 8 and 80 at Hull Royal.
